Privacy Policy
Effective July 20, 2026 · Ikikata is in beta, and this page is kept in sync with what the product actually does — it will be updated as the product evolves.
Who we are
Ikikata (ikikata.app) is built and run by an independent developer. For anything privacy-related, email contact@ikikata.app.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address. Passwords are handled by a dedicated authentication service — we never see or store your password itself.
- What you create. Journal entries, reflections, tasks and habits, goals and quests, and profile details (handle, timezone, avatar choice, theme). This is the point of the app — it only works if it can store what you write.
- Diagnostics. Server error reports and request logs, used only to keep the service running and fix bugs.
What we don’t collect: no analytics trackers, no advertising cookies, no location data, no contact lists.
How AI features use your data
Ikikata’s core features — the mentor that responds to your journal, quest generation from your goals, skill detection — work by sending the relevant text to third-party AI providers. We use paid API tiers whose terms do not permit the provider to train models on your data. Your content is never sold, and never shared for advertising. Our Safety page explains what the AI features do when writing mentions self-harm.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored with established managed cloud providers, and invite/waitlist emails are sent through a transactional email service. We keep the list of specific providers private as a security measure, but a current list is available on request at contact@ikikata.app.
Cookies
We use essential session cookies only — the ones that keep you signed in. There are no tracking or third-party cookies.
Deleting your data
Settings → Danger Zone deletes your account and everything in it — journal entries, tasks, quests, character, all of it — immediately and permanently. It is a hard delete, not a deactivation. You can also email contact@ikikata.app and we’ll do it for you.
Exporting your data
There is no self-serve export yet. Until there is, email contact@ikikata.app and we’ll send you a copy of your data.
Children
Ikikata is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
When this page changes, the effective date above changes with it. Material changes during the beta will also be mentioned in the emails we send you.
